Privacy Policy
Effective 16 August 2026. This policy covers the SettledBills iPhone app and this website. It is written to match how the app actually works — not a generic template.
The short version
Your bills stay on this iPhone. SettledBills does not create an account and does not connect to a bank. We do not host your bill list. We do not sell your information. We do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
A few optional features talk to other companies so logos and Pro purchases can work. You can use the app without those if you never look up a company online and never buy Pro.
No SettledBills account
There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to delete as an account. Guideline-style “delete my account” does not apply because we never create one. To remove bills from a phone, delete the app or restore a backup you control. Details are under Retention and deletion below.
What the app stores on your device
These stay on the iPhone (and in any backup file you export yourself):
- Bills, accounts, payments, notes, categories, and payday settings you enter.
- App settings (currency, theme, reminders, app lock, and similar).
- A widget snapshot the app writes for the Home Screen widget.
- A random Support ID used only so a support email can refer to the same install. It is not an account and is not sent anywhere unless you email us.
- Logos you have already fetched, cached on disk.
If you turn on app lock, Face ID or your device passcode is handled by iOS. We never see biometric data.
What we do not collect
- No email list, cloud bill sync, or SettledBills login.
- No bank, card network, or transaction access. Account names are labels you type.
- No location, contacts, photos, microphone, or mail access.
- No advertising identifier used for ads. The app has no ads.
- No analytics SDK, crash reporter, or tracking pixel in the app.
- This website does not set analytics cookies or a tracking pixel.
Because we do not track your activity across other companies’ apps or websites, SettledBills does not use Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt.
When something leaves the phone
Only the cases below. Each is optional based on what you do.
Company logos and names (Brandfetch)
If you type a company or a website and it is not in the bundled catalog, the app may send that text or domain to Brandfetch to fetch a logo and a clean display name. We use that solely to show the logo and name in the app. Logos are then cached on the device. Brandfetch’s privacy policy applies to that lookup. You can skip this by typing a name and keeping it without picking a suggestion.
Pro purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)
Subscriptions and any lifetime Pro offer go through Apple In-App Purchase. We use RevenueCat to check whether this Apple ID is entitled to Pro. Typical purchase data includes a purchase identifier, product, and subscription status — not your full payment card number. Apple’s privacy policy and RevenueCat’s privacy policy apply. We use this only to unlock Pro on the device and to restore purchases.
Reminders
If you turn reminders on, iOS asks for notification permission then. Notifications are scheduled on the device. Turn reminders off in Settings to stop them.
Support email
If you use Settings → Support & feedback, Mail opens a message to settledbills.support@icloud.com with a diagnostic snapshot: app version, device type, timezone, locale, currency, Pro status, bill counts, and settings. It does not include bill names or amounts. Whatever you write, plus that snapshot if you leave it in, is stored in our inbox so we can reply.
This website (Cloudflare)
Pages are hosted by Cloudflare. Standard request data such as IP address and browser type may be processed to serve the site and keep it available, under Cloudflare’s policies.
Third parties — equal protection
We only involve a third party in the cases above. We require that those parties protect user data at least as described here and as required by Apple’s App Store Review Guidelines. We do not sell personal information. We do not share bill lists with anyone.
Retention and deletion
- Bills and settings on the phone. Kept until you change or delete them, delete the app, or restore a backup. Deleting the app removes local SettledBills data on that iPhone (unless an iOS backup you control still has it).
- Backups and CSV you export. Those files are yours. We never receive them unless you attach one to an email. Delete the file wherever you saved it.
- Support email. Kept as long as needed to help you, then as required for ordinary inbox records. Email settledbills.support@icloud.com and ask us to delete your correspondence. We will.
- Purchases. Apple keeps App Store purchase records. We cannot erase Apple ID history. Restore Purchases still needs Apple’s record.
- Brandfetch lookups. We do not control Brandfetch’s logs. Stop further lookups by not searching companies. Cached logos leave when you delete the app.
There is no in-app account-deletion button because there is no account. Removing local data is: archive bills, delete the app, or restore a backup you made.
Consent
Notifications are off until you turn them on. App lock is off until you turn it on. Logo lookup happens when you search or type a domain. Purchases happen when you confirm in Apple’s sheet. You can withdraw those by turning the setting off, not looking up companies, or cancelling Pro in Apple ID settings (you keep what you already paid for through the current period).
Children
SettledBills is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child provided information through support email, write us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will update this page and the date above. Keep using the app after a change means you accept the new policy.
